Celebrate Low Summer Golf Rates at Scottsdale’s Eagle Mountain

Play Eagle Mountain Golf Club for less with the Summer Pass and Soaring 12 Summer Golf Special

Summer in the Valley of the Sun is here; might as well make the best of it by getting out on the golf course. To that end, Eagle Mountain Golf Club offers some of the lowest summer golf rates in Scottsdale for golfers who can take the heat.

2018 Summer Pass

For only $59, Summer Passholders receive rates ranging from $35-$42 from May 7 to September 30. What’s more, the passholder’s three accompanied guests get the same low rates, which amount to roughly half off the regular green fees during that time.

The program is limited to one foursome per day, but unlimited in the rounds of golf they can play over the summer. Plus, reservation may be made up to seven days in advance. A 15 percent discount on non-sale merchandise, and a 10 percent discount in The Grille also comes with the program (excluding alcohol).

OB Sports Travel Benefits:  The Summer Pass opens the door to a number of travel-related perks, including special rates at other OB Sports-managed facilities such as ASU Karsten Golf Course, Longbow Golf Club, McDowell Mountain Golf Club, Papago Golf Course, Sedona Golf Resort and many more.

In fact, The Summer Pass is great “test drive” to sample many of the rewarding benefits included in the annual card programs offered by Eagle Mountain as well as other golf clubs throughout the country managed by OB Sports.

The Soaring 12 Summer Golf Special

Valid May 29 through August 31, this popular program offers 12 rounds of golf for only $299 as well as special guest rates for the rest of the foursome. A $50 gift card for the Eagle Mountain Grille is included for good measure along with a 15 percent discount on non-sale merchandise in the golf shop. A maximum of four rounds may be redeemed per day anytime Monday through Thursday and after 10 am Friday through Sunday. Reservations may be made up to seven days in advance.

Save on Exceptional Summer Golf at Eagle Mountain

Those willing to do the math will find that these two summer golf programs pencil-out very nicely. And honestly, it’s not just about inexpensive golf – it’s about exceptional, inexpensive golf. Low summertime green fees at Eagle Mountain and throughout the Scottsdale/Phoenix area give locals a chance to play some of the best golf courses in the Valley for a fraction of the peak season rates.

PLAYING GOLF IN TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT

For so many passionate golfers, triple-digit heat in the desert won’t stop them from playing 18 holes at their favorite course. Low greens fees and food and beverage specials sweeten the round, sometimes making the heat a non-factor.

To get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of your round, here are a few recommended tips to beat the heat:

Drink Plenty of Water in the Days Leading Up to Your Round

There’s no need to wait until you get to the golf course to start the hydration process. Give yourself three to four days before your tee time to drink as much water as possible, and you will find yourself relying less on cooling stations between holes.

You can also try sports drinks like Gatorade and Powerade for an extra pick-me-up. The electrolytes will help avoid cramping after sweating out your body’s salts.

Use Your Golf Bag Pockets Efficiently

Make sure you have more than golf balls and tees in your golf bag. Before you leave the house, fill the larger side pockets with a large towel to wipe away sweat, or even water bottles to keep you hydrated between cooling stations. And ALWAYS wear sunblock with a high SPF, as not even the widest brimmed hats will protect exposed skin from harmful UV rays.

Be Smart on the Day of Your Round

Not trying to sound like a broken record, but constantly drink water throughout your round. We’ve found that taking a large swig from a water bottle after every stroke on the golf course is a good routine to keep.

Dressing the part will also help maintain a great comfort level on the course. Any combination of breathable hats, collared shirts, and shorts if allowed, will help in the long run. And don’t forget lighter colors will help reflect as much of the sun as possible.

Shade is Your Friend

We’re not talking about the shade thrown around by our favorite millennial friends. We’re talking about the shade that keeps you directly out of the sunlight. Look for trees on the sides of fairways to camp out underneath between shots. And if the course you’re playing doesn’t have mature enough trees, stay seated in your golf car for as long as possible.

And lastly, but probably most importantly: If you don’t feel well on the golf course, stop playing and immediately head back to the clubhouse for some water and sports drinks. Feeling light headed, dizzy, nauseous, or when you stop sweating are some immediate signs you need to cut your round short.

They say your worst day on the golf course is still better than your best day at work. Well, if you’re playing golf in extreme heat, this can still be true if you follow the tips above. Swing hard and stay cool!

Kick Off Your Heels and Tee it Up!

Contrary to popular belief, women have always played golf. The LPGA Tour is older than the PGA Tour. The problem is the proportion of female players has barely budged since the 1980s. Rounds played by women have consistently hovered at an even lower proportion of the total, about 17% women play fewer rounds than men.

What’s keeping you from playing? Here are five reasons women should start playing golf NOW!

  • It gets you outside and active.  There is nothing like getting outside during the weekend or in the middle of a beautiful weekday to enjoy the fresh sunshine and air.

  • It could count as exercise. A good golf game can provide plenty exercise (you can be walking for up to five hours). The average golfer is said to burn around 1,500 calories per 18 holes of golf!

  • Fun activity to enjoy with friends or family.  The handicap scoring system allows for players of all abilities to compete together. If you and your girlfriends are beginners why not take a lesson together at Eagle Mountain Golf Club.

  • Kick off your heels and tee it up for more business. Women need to start looking at golf as a mandatory business skill that will increase productivity, profits, promotions and likability!  It is time for women to start leveling the playing field in business and in golf.

  • Golf fashion is big business and you’ll enjoy some amazing options. If you are into fashion trends, this is the sport to get into. It opens up a whole new wardrobe world.

Like starting anything new, it’s difficult to pick up a new sport and walk into a game that you assume is predominantly played by men. Let alone a game as challenging as golf.  The actual rules of the game don’t care what gender you are. Both men and women get frustrated when learning the game of golf.

Maybe you’re a woman who’s always wanted to play but never had the motivation or correct instruction. Click HERE for more information on instruction at Eagle Mountain Golf Club.

Cactus League Golf Connection: Spring Training and Golf in the Valley of the Sun

Eagle Mountain delivers a Scottsdale golf and Spring Training treat for baseball fans

Once again Major League Baseball’s Spring Training is here. But “play ball” doesn’t always mean baseball. No doubt a hefty percentage of the nearly 2 million fans descending on the Valley of the Sun also will carve out time from Spring Training to play golf in Scottsdale. Eagle Mountain Golf Club is ready for them.

Salt River Fields – Rockies and Diamondbacks

Only 10 miles from Salt River Fields where the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks play, fans can practically see the iconic notched mountain from the stands that marks Eagle Mountain’s lofty location high in the McDowell Mountains. As one might expect, the views from the golf course are spectacular, and the golf experience unfolds over desert ridges and through shady arroyos loaded with thriving Sonoran Desert.

“Eagle Mountain is a great place for Spring Training fans to experience true Arizona desert golf,” said Bret Greenwood, general manager. “The golf course moves through quite a bit of elevation change. This gives it a unique charm when compared to clubs located down in the Valley.”

Southcentral – Giants, A’s and Cubs

Scottsdale Stadium, home of the San Francisco Giants, is only six miles farther south from Salt River Fields. Spring Training location for the Chicago Cubs, Sloan Park, is only 16 miles from Eagle Mountain, and it’s roughly the same distance from Hohokam Stadium, where the Oakland A’s begin their season. Even Tempe Diablo Stadium, home of the Los Angles Angels, is only 27 miles away.

Southwest – Dodgers, White Sox, Reds, Indians and Brewers

Although the ball parks on the southwest side of the Phoenix-metro area are a bit further away, the commute to Eagle Mountain Golf Club from Camelback Ranch would seem like nothing to road warriors rooting on the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox. Also in the general area, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians play at Goodyear Ballpark, and the Milwaukee Brewers play at Maryvale Stadium.

Northwest – Royals and Rangers

In the northeast Valley, Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers play at Surprise Stadium and the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners play at Peoria Sports Complex. Both are a mere 45 minute drive around d Loop 101.

Great Golf, Professional Baseball, Exceptional Weather

For those chasing spectacular golf and Spring Training baseball, the Phoenix/Scottsdale area is a dream come true. Add in sunny-and-70s weather, and it’s a homerun.

New Year’s Resolutions in Full Swing!

2018 New Year’s resolutions have been set and people are in full swing trying to accomplish their resolution. Popular resolutions every year revolve around people promising to change an undesired trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life. Most people want to eat better, look better and feel better in 2018.  So many people set a resolution to maintain a healthier diet, while others promise to get exercise more regularly.  These are some of the common goals we hear about regularly.

An article from the Huffington Post, presented an interesting fact, only 8% of people actually keep their New Year’s resolutions.  There are a number of reasons people can’t stick to their resolutions, from setting too many of them to getting derailed by small failures. Often times individuals simply set their resolutions to high.  It is rare to see a resolution that involves doing something fun in 2018.  Although, eating kale and skipping dessert may be fun to some, for the large majority of us we aren’t interested.

People around the New Year talk about cutting carbs, or running everyday… How often do you hear that someones resolution is to drink and hangout with friends more often. It would be nice to set resolutions such as: take more vacations, try new foods, play more golf, indulge in activities that challenge me both physically and mentally.  It’s a new year which calls for new resolutions. Don’t waste your time with recycling an old resolution that you never kept years ago. It’s time to wipe the worries of not sticking to your resolutions away and focus on resolutions that make you happy.

Dust off your clubs, stock up on tees and forget about all those unrealistic resolutions. Enjoy your golf game even more this season by taking up these New Year’s resolutions.
